Guru Studio is looking for exceptional Intermediate and Senior Animators for an Emmy award winning children’s series, to start immediately. A background in art, showing a solid understanding of physical motion, dance, weight and balance would be an asset.

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the unit’s animation supervisor and lead animator, you will be responsible for animating assigned scenes based on available live action references, storyboards and director’s notes, while maintaining weekly animation quota in addition to retakes.

Requirements/Skills

Artistic:

  • Strong abilities in traditional animation skills and principles
  • Natural sense of human and non-human movement, timing, weight and balance and the ability to use this to bring characters to life
  • Understand musical timing and how it applies to animated characters
  • Fanatical attention to detail

‘Shazam’, TAC and Nine Twitterview

dc-treasury-c-58-superman-shazamBill Birch has been tapped to reboot “Shazam!,” Warners’ adaptation of a DC Comics series featuring Captain Marvel.

DC Comic Geoff Johns was hired by Warner studio to act as consultants on DC projects and will now be working with Bill Birch to kick-start, co-writing the story. Bill is currently working on Warners ‘One Finger Salute’. Bill has contrinuted to the content on several shows including 90210, Grey’s Anatomy and The Unit.

girafCALL FOR SUBMISSIONS GIRAF5: (Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival) is an international festival of independent and experimental animation, presented by Quickdraw Animation, and takes place this November 4-8, 2009 at  the Plaza Theatre in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. GIRAF celebrates the spirit of independent and underground animation, showcasing animators from across Canada and around the Globe. GIRAF is the only exclusively independent animation festival in Canada, with a hands-on approach, focusing on process and experimentation.

Acclaimed documentary WALT & EL GRUPO, a festival favourite in Rome, Rio, San Francisco, Palm Springs and Seattle, is set to begin its theatrical run with limited releases in Los Angeles and New York on September 11, 2009. The film, from writer /director Theodore Thomas (Frank and Ollie) and producer Kuniko Okubo, is a documentary about the amazing ten-week trip that Walt Disney and his hand-picked group of artist and filmmaking talent (later known as ‘El Grupo’ took to South American in 1941.

The documentary is set to release across several US cities with no screenings yet available in Canada. Toronto Animation Live is working to bring this story of the Great Walt Disney to a theater here in Toronto. Stay posted for details.
